A TITO Control Strategy to Increase Productivity in Uncertain Exothermic Continuous Chemical Reactors

In this manuscript, a two-input two-output (TITO) control strategy for an exothermic continuous chemical reactor is presented. The tasks of the are related to temperature regulation by standard proportional-integral (PI) controller. selected set point increases productivity due effect and prevents potential thermal runaway, until it reaches isothermal operating conditions. Then, optimal controller activated increase mass productivity. based on Euler-Lagrange framework, in which corresponding Lagrangian model equations reactor, coupled with uncertainty estimator infer unknown terms required proposed As benchmark, stirred tank (CSTR) Van de Vusse reaction considered as application case study. Notably, methodology generally applicable any reactor. results numerical experiments verify satisfactory performance strategy.
